Bob Messano performs original music for children, families, and communities. He has more than three decades of experience as a professional musician. His concerts for countless kids and family audiences have been featured at a host of schools, libraries, and community events. Bob’s concerts are interactive, educational, and fun for all ages. His music brings out the kid in everyone. He loves seeing how music strengthens families and builds connections across communities.
Education Background
Bob taught Kindergarten for many years in a public school. He has a master’s degree in education (M.Ed.) with an emphasis on early childhood education. He incorporated music daily in his classroom so his songs are truly child-tested and parent-approved. Presently, Bob works as a Professor in Residence at William Paterson University, his alma mater. He cherishes the opportunity to provide professional development opportunities to working teachers. Frequently, he integrates music into science lessons that he co-teaches with elementary and middle school educators.
Musical Influences
Bob has been described as “a master guitarist”. That’s quite an accomplishment for someone who just began playing guitar in college. While at college, he had the opportunity to see many legendary musicians perform. He developed a deep affection for American roots music through the songs of legendary bluesman, Muddy Waters; Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe; and folk musician/environmental activist, Pete Seeger. Bob’s original songs owe a debt of gratitude to these musical pioneers.
